the problem with the sound on avocado isn't Kasper's fault, the problem is with the mastering.

Ten - This one is very difficult. Stones songwriting match eds vocals. Without either of them you have a generic rock band. The individual talent of each other really bring out the greatness in it all. Without their individual ticks it all falls apart. Its little things like stones intricate guitar work. The difference between grunge ripoffs and pearl jam is the way stone approaches the guitar. Knowledgeable. Open tunings, different chord fingerings. The way stone plays a simple 4 chord progression with different chord voicings up the neck on alive is really a touch of individual genius in comparison to the generic contemporaries. Then you have a song like Oceans, or Even Flow with open tunings. These aren't just generic guitar riffs.
But without Ed? Geezes. The voice, the lyrics, the passion. Tough one.
Vs: G Dangit I suppose I could get behind the Dave A as MVP. He really drives these songs. But again Ed's vocal ferociousness is what elevates it.
Vitalogy: Ed. Corduroy, not for you, betterman, whipping, immortality. Forget about it.
No Code: Brendan O'Brien? The production choices are incredible. Jack though....OMG
Yield: Mike. BoJ, Faithful, Given To Fly....forget about it. Though its hard to not argue for the entire group effort as MVP
Binaural: Tough one for me as this is my favorite album. Matt Cameron is fucking perfect all over this record. A couple of Ed's very best songs and Mikes playing all over....Hmm. Ill give it to Ed
Riot Act: Matt Cameron. His drumming and approach hits all my sweet spots. The rolling swells in Can't Keep, unabashed looseness of Save you, to the hushed gentleness of Thumbing My Way and All or None. Oh baby, thats nice.
S/T: Ed.
Backspacer: Hmm.
Lighting Bolt: Jeff. Feels like he's the only one that brought something new to the table for this one.
