Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. Give me a break malice. I'm not talking about some all-seeing fucking wisdom here. I'm talking about the wisdom to say: oh hey, I love and admire my father and have always wanted a marriage like my parents' marriage. It turns out that my father is not infallible. Instead of wishing that I was never born and forgetting all the joy and love I've experienced throughout the course of my entire life thanks to my parents, I will instead hold prospective partners to a slightly lower and more reasonable standard. I still want to find love and devotion, but I understand that human saints do not exist. I love you Dad. I love you Mom.
It's so simple that it's not even interesting watching someone react the wrong way on TV.

Imagine looking up to your dad as a male role model in your life as a girl or as a young woman, especially in black culture where so many women have raised their children without the fathers around, thinking throughout you childhood that while it's accepted that black men either take off or are jailed or whatever and the norm is young girls being the only adult in a household, yet your dad was around and provided stability and security in the family.

Now see yourself as a fairly newly achieved grown woman, finally, and trying to both excel in your life and still find the relationship you saw from your parents, or something that at least allows for a similar sense of unity and security in your life. Then find out, oh, btw, dad's been a piece of shit the whole time, and really not much different from every other pos man youve encountered in your life who has screwed you over...

You cant make blanket assumptions on what's a proper and realistic reaction to that, and to think the only possible acceptable reaction is to be all, oh, well, dad's just a man after all, so hey, no prob that he fucked around on mom, because, you know, it ain't no big deal no how...
