It really blows my mind that Lucas actually altered the original negative to create the special edition. That is just awful.
Why go to that trouble otherwise?Also, new 4K restoration work has been done on Disney’s Song of the South to fix certain shots previously out of alignment (because of a faulty camera used during the original photography), though no public release is currently planned. Fascinating.
Disney has been creating 4K masters of tons of movies and just putting them in their vault right now.
