Long Road, I like Fatal but it hasn't aged as well as Long Road has.

I voted Fatal. But hearing the opening chord of Long Road to start the Manfield 2003 acoustic set might be my favorite live experience with this band. I remember it specifically. I was in the walkway at Great Woods between the lawn and the seats. I was retrieving a friend from the lawn and bringing him down to my seats under the pavilion when the band took stage, sat down, and strummed that D.

I remember that D chord too! I was partying in the parking lot. I got way too stoned, and we had just made our way inside the venue when that chord was strummed. We ran frantically to our seats, along with a bunch of other people, but I was so stoned that I struggled to know where I was going.

Dig both. Took the Long Road.

Fatal. because its a binaural outtake and im sick of Binaural not getting the respect it deserves.

Fatal. Bit of a tough one there.

This is extremely tough; I really feel like I like both these songs and whatever I decide will be a coin toss. I like the unconventional and deceptive craftsmanship of Fatal, the lyrical depth and difference in tone from the typical PJ lyric, and the way the recording captures the band, particularly Eddie.

But there's something sublime about Long Road. It's easy to step over the line from anthemic or epic into shlock, and it's something this band's been guilty of more than a few times. But Long Road, especially those live versions from 2000, feel appropriately vast. It's a great juxtaposition; the song evokes such a private feeling lyrically but the sweep of the music sounds just right. I'll go with Long Road for the moment, and I'll probably change my mind the next time I hear Fatal.
