I haven't really deep-dived
what's their best album if I want their more slow chuggy Doom material?

There were certainly a lot of questionable choices made with the opening acts, no doubt.
Was cool to see some pro-shot Tool, though.
Yeah, that Tool set was sick.
"Mama, I'm Coming Home" got the biggest reaction out of me, even though I'm a way bigger fan of Sabbath than Ozzy. It's just the perfect song for a such a sendoff.

also I like that I get to mention Sleep Token (II) in here now; he did a great job with his songs

IMO, their debut is far and away their best - particularly the 5-track US version. And the opening track on that is the doomiest thing they ever recorded. But you can't really go wrong with any of their first five albums.

Slow chuggy doom metal = Master of Reality if memory serves. This is where Soundgarden got their sound.

Starting with the debut is good advice for a new listener but there's a lot to love about the records beyond the first five.
I'm particularly fond of Sabotage and Never Say Die!

Great opening tracks on both of those, though I don't usually get much deeper than that

The “Mama, I’m Coming Home” from that concert is very moving.

These two are absolute all-timers for me:

I really like both of those
I've never been in love with Ozzy's voice but I'll tolerate it

Mine too along with Paranoid. Those three are great.

Oh hey, I finally found the other person who appreciates NSD?!? I've always thought it was just me.
I actually got a cassette recording of this from a junior high classmate - NSD on one side, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath on the other. From some reason, these two were missing from my Sabbath collection. Went on to love them both.

listening to the debut right now
it's great, even if I have to accept that the drumming is sloppy in places

One of the interesting things about bands in that era (late 60s, very early 70s) is there was no blueprint for what heavy rock was meant to sound like, so you have guys who grew up playing R&B and jazz bringing that feel into a band with heavy guitars in a way that you'd rarely hear later on.
I wouldn't describe Bill Ward's drumming as sloppy at all, but he's certainly looser and less rigid than a modern drummer and I think it's great.
