Exactly. Could mean that there's an album in a year or just more touring in a year.
Maybe it's a good sign that they're getting sick of playing the same material.

I see that the "Columbus area Pearl Jam fan gone missing" thread is still stickied. Ever the optimists

Looks like they aren't cashing in on the HOF which would have been lucrative and rather easy.
New phase/era guys. Time to put PRAMG to bed.

I really hope they do take some extended time away to think about what they want Pearl Jam to be. It couldn't hurt.

This is what bothers me. Thats my fault for still caring, i know, but c'mon.
sounds like soundgarden commitments and eddie's european tour are the problem

This is already what they were already doing... PJ hasn't played a live show since August 2016, right? .... SG has made no secret of their touring plans.... Nor Ed of his.... They always do this after a album / tour spate: Ed does a solo pouty album, Matt makes a SG album, Jeff builds some skate parks, Stone writes great music quietly for himself that will never see the light of day, and Mike shits himself uncontrollably somewhere. Big fucking deal. Nothing new here. 10 months from now, BOB will need a down payment for his next vacation house and he'll start cold calling them and round them all up for two majestic weeks of hastily constructed ideas holed up in the beverly hills hilton and the cycle will repeat itself.

Soundgarden is going to be pretty busy with the tour and the album. Im expecting more dates when the album is out, so yeah.
Anyway, its not the first time they decide to take some time off to do other stuff, i just hope they get to the studio soon enough.

from the PJ FB page: "Please rest assured that although Pearl Jam the band will be taking a hiatus for the next 12 months, Pearl Jam the commercial enterprise juggernaut will not be taking any time off. During this downtime 10C proconsul and voting member of the President's economic advisory team Tim Beirmann will activate the Hiatus Year sequence, an ambitious plan to release one new limited edition $35 PJ sticker set per day, for the next 365 days; in order to tide over the open-mouthed moleperson masses until Cody O'Brien has sufficient time to complete splicing together the B-reel from the LB sessions in order to form the 'new album'. A portion of the Hiatus Year proceeds will be donated to the Children of Musicians who Need Nice Things like Hawaiian Beach Houses Foundation and the Pete Townshend 'I was just doing some online research, here, OK?' Legal Defense Fund. Throughout the Hiatus Year, one lucky sticker set purchaser per month will be selected and flown to a deserted island containing only enough food for one person and 12 types of weapons, forced to engage in the the Greatest Hunt of All: Man. Upon the successful decapitation of the 11 former jamily members, the Victor will be entered to win a pair of tickets to a Chicago Cubs spring exhibition game in Lakeland, FL and an autographed picture of Eddie Vedder arm wrestling Clark the Cub."

I think now that they've hit this milestone, they can be anything they want to be (or, they realize they can be anything they want to be). Taking time to mull that over and getting the juices going in that direction is a great idea.
The only worry I have is with the more and more time between albums, I hope they don't feel like they have to deliver something even bigger and more Pearl Jammy. Seems like it'd be easier for them to deliver something different right after a big release while people are still have it in their minds.

Living in the Midwest, it is like the band is on hiatus two out of every three years.
