rigsofdadMan, this conference is KILLING ME.
Closest tune-saloon is a place called The Diamond Toot about 2 miles from the hotel... saw a band there at lunch today called Tribal Speed, but left my phone and my powershot in my room, so I couldn’t snag any pics. They weren’t that good anyway... 8 song set and only two of them were 311 songs, so I bailed before their encore. Now it’s raining so I am settling in for the night.
Honestly could not wait to get back to the hotel and unwind with some Santana featuring my boy Bobby T, only to be pleasantly surprised to see my daughter Tawny sent me this gem of a YouTube link. Had no idea Big Bad Chad did a song with the guitarist from Carlos Santana featuring Rob Thomas, but these tasty licks pair perfectly with the six pack of Kuges I picked up on the walk home.
My new buddy Roger at the front desk said there’s a solid venue not too far from the hotel called Soup Not Seas that has a daily showcase called “Daze of the New” which boasts both reputable local rockers and a reputable soup/breadstick buffet. Might hit it up in the next couple days.... stay tuned. One Love.

I listened to 'Smooth' today in light of Jorge's bump, and it made me unreasonably annoyed. It might've been half decent without Thomas, but alas.

'Maria Maria' is a bop, for example. No Thomas. Coincidence?

In five years you'll be drafting storyboards to the synthwave remix pretending you never made that post, Burt.

I think "Smooth" is hilarious and I get a lot of ironic enjoyment out of some of its shitter aspects, but I actually do think the bones of the song are good. It's mostly Rob Thomas who makes it funny/bad. It's a solid, hooky, radio-friendly salsa-pop song with a lot of extraneous guitar noodling

The salsa skeleton is actually killer. That's why it annoyed me when Thomas started singing.

Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas Are Together Again. It Only Took 22 Years
Santana’s new, all-star album also includes the Matchbox 20 frontman for the first time since that massive hit. Will that magic strike again?
