The Whole Love is a delightful album.

Spoon’s “Transference” comes to mind. A slight misstep in an otherwise spotless catalog.

Also, Pavement’s “Terror Twilight.” It’s not a bad album at all, just clearly a SM solo effort.

Bjork’s “Volta” is really weak compared to her other albums.

The Sword’s latest efforts have left a lot to be desired. Seemed to have left stoner metal for a more “southern rock” sound.

Tegan and Sara’s last album is a complete dud.

I can't find the post anymore. It was captioned with something like "Now available in the online store" or something.

As expected, it was slammed with hundreds of comments about "wtf?" and "you say fuck capitalism, now this".
I mean these guys opened themselves up to people pointing out these kinds of contradictions long before these spinners.

They may as well have quit after TOTBL. They were never going to top it.

I think I see what you're saying -- Volta was probably the safest/most predictable of her albums, but it didn't seem like an outlier to me; more like an update on Homogenic. I'd say the one with all the throat singing was the real misstep.
No way, I LOVE Medúlla.

And I don't feel that Volta was really the "pop" album (by her standards) some have portrayed it to be. I just don't think the songs are that great and it lacks the cohesion her other albums have. It also treads some old ground for her. Like you mentioned, there's some Homogenic in there and some Vespertine, but none of it matches up to the originals.

It just doesn't feel like an inspired album for her.

It's not bad, it just doesn't measure up to her other work.

Oh man, I can't stand Medulla. Volta was a mixed bag for me. There were a handful of songs I loved, then the rest was pretty boring. I still haven't listened to Vulnicura, and I only gave Biophilia a couple spins. I think my fandom pretty much runs from Debut - Vespertine.
Vulnicura is incredible. I’d put it up there with Homogenic and Vespertine. It’s brutal as fuck.

This may not mean much to some of you but The Barenaked Ladies parting company with their original lead singer, Steven Page, has done neither party any good.
