Didnt this album give us our first, and still best, holy grail?

Hard to imagine

Would never have fit on Vs.

A band that can cast off a song like that, needs their heads examined. We all should have checked out there and then.

I really hope to see Hard To Imagine live before I die. The shows I've seen so far have had Elderly Woman and Wasted Reprise as openers. I've never had any HTIs, Releases, Long Roads, nuthin'!

I did see Long Road open an Eddie solo show though, which was incredible.

Those are two weird openers but at least life wasted reprise is interesting/lesser played.
I've had 33 shows and if I ever hear Sometimes ever again, I'll probably spend the rest of that show at the bar crying.

Release never gets old. Ever. Long road.. Nnnnneeehhhh. Ish. The magic in that song is in the studio I think. Still waiting on Oceans. I'll be waiting I reckon.

Oceans is one I've seen, actually. It was just in a weird mid-set part of the show. It was great, though.

I'd welcome it at any point. Did he drop the b**h bit?
Wouldn't be surprised.

Last time he sang the Beth part was West Palm Beach 2000, from memory. That's a great show.

That was a great show. There are some real stormers on that tour.
I always liked Saratoga.

Got Hard To Imagine in 2008. Wash too that year. And I think I'm one of the few people out there who wasn't completely disappointed in the shows they saw that tour.

Hey now.. That's a great song.

I got given to fly, Hard to imagine, and faithful in a run one time. I don't remember things like this usually but that was a pretty special night.

Last show I went to was 6/19/08 and they opened with HARD TO IMAGINE and they opened with OCEANS when I saw them in late 1998 at the Meadowlands

Incredible duo of albums and became fairly obsessed at this point. Vitalogy remains one of my favourite albums and I play it from back to front (sans mop) regularly. Vs has some great songs - the opening three are incredible. At the time I didn't think it was as patchy as I do now but I still think the progression they made from Ten is exceptional and many of the songs are probably structurally superior to Vitalogy. I love the start of both of these albums which begin with a loose sound check before smashing you in the face - little snippets like the count ins and the drumsticks getting thrown against the wall made it feel much more spontaneous. The influence of Dave A and Jeff on this has to be recognised - the introduction of funk, dub and reggae without referencing these in a cliched way is great. The band never really grooved again like this. Couple the music with the whole mystique thing people refer to and this was really the defining era for me.
