I've seen him a few times live. Never paid that much, but it is a pretty great show.
I want to go but dropping a bill just for me and my wife seems extreme.

If you've never seen him before, yes. If you have, still probably yes, but he doesn't switch up his setlists as much as I like.

Meh, maybe I'll have to hear the record first. What if there is a song with a synth on it?

Also, Reunions released May 15. WTF?

I like that new song.

It sucks he's not doing a regular show near me - only as part of a big festival I don't want to attend.

If May seems like a long time to wait you all could check out John Moreland's new album LP5 in the meantime. They work in a similar style but I think Moreland has surpassed him at this point.

This now checks that you are indeed guestT. I'll check it out.

Did you do a 2019 playlist?

I started one but haven't finished it yet. I'll do that soon and post the Spotify link. Thanks for asking!

Re: Isbell, this song is just ok. I expected more after he tweeted that he thought this was their best album yet.

It's decent. It's very solid lyrically, but seems a bit off in terms of the mix to me. Based on the live versions of Overseas I've heard, it's a top notch track so I'm still expecting this to be another pretty good album.

I'm not sure about surpassing Isbell, but I would support a stand-alone John Moreland thread.

I think I'd take Moreland's ten best over Isbell's (solo only).

Moreland:

God's Medicine
Nobody Gives a Damn About a Song Anymore
Gospel
Sallisaw Blue
A Thought is Just a Passing Train
Lies I Chose to Believe
Amen, So Be It
Slow Down Easy
Hang Me in the Tulsa County Stars
Break My Heart Sweetly

Isbell:

The Magician
Dress Blues
Chicago Promenade
In a Razor Town
Good
Alabama Pines
Cover Me Up
Relatively Easy
If We Were Vampires
Something to Love

Alright, I'd still take Isbell. But it's getting closer.

Interesting list of Isbell's top ten.

Like the new song enough I just kinda hate how he says "do it anyway."

Verb you should definitely go. It's worth it. As someone else mentioned he doesn't mix it up much from night to night but the sound is always a bit heavier when Amanda Shires isn't with them.

I had the same thought about "do it anyway" it sounds shoe horned into the chorus.

I'll probably go. It's two days after my birthday. Might as well treat myself.
