I mean yeah but I think talking about specific musical elements is much more interesting and useful than "I like it" vs. "I don't like it"warehouse wrote:probably the way it sounds ...?theplatypus wrote:Okay but what don't you like about it!
people have mentioned the "feel" of it being jarring, so i assume the weird time signature turns people off. its not as smooth as "last exit" or other songs that arent in 3 or 4. ed also doesnt sound like typical ed. i dig his vocal approach, especially with the background vocals. as others others have mentioned, this sounds like a soundgarden song. i like soundgarden. other people dont.theplatypus wrote:I mean yeah but I think talking about specific musical elements is much more interesting and useful than "I like it" vs. "I don't like it"warehouse wrote:probably the way it sounds ...?theplatypus wrote:Okay but what don't you like about it!
Interesting take. I haven't read a lot on here, so this is the first time I see this. Personally I'm not a big Soundgarden fan.warehouse wrote:people have mentioned the "feel" of it being jarring, so i assume the weird time signature turns people off. its not as smooth as "last exit" or other songs that arent in 3 or 4. ed also doesnt sound like typical ed. i dig his vocal approach, especially with the background vocals. as others others have mentioned, this sounds like a soundgarden song. i like soundgarden. other people dont.theplatypus wrote:I mean yeah but I think talking about specific musical elements is much more interesting and useful than "I like it" vs. "I don't like it"warehouse wrote:probably the way it sounds ...?theplatypus wrote:Okay but what don't you like about it!
I'm not Angus, but for me, I think it's this. I'm not a musician, so maybe I don't appreciate what they did here? ( Although -I did play saxophone in the school band back in 5th grade, lol) But it just sounds kind of like a jumbled mess to me. I realize it isn't and that I'm sure musically, it's a difficult thing to do, but I just can't get into it. Like I said, I love the solo at the end, but for the most part it's just not my favorite track at all. But I still like it a lot more than CDM or even OTE for that matter.theplatypus wrote:What's bad about itAngus wrote:'Take the long way' is a terrible song.
Do you hate the way the tricky time signature gives it a cool lopsided feel
Absolutely. I already forgot those 2 songs ever happened.DissidentRival4 wrote:But I still like it a lot more than CDM or even OTE for that matter.

The ones I'm having the most difficulty with are Retrograde, River Cross and Buckle Up.dad wrote:it's still Retrograde.
