Future days has total cheese piano.

Ugly unnessecary cheese piano, on a boring unnessecary song.

And so does just breathe if i recall.
So there.

I just listened to CC. Really, really like the song but Ed's vocals need to be redone if this is going to make it to the album. I like his approach but the vocals are just not executed well, especially at the start. Too many unintentional voice breaks. I much prefer his singing on LB to be honest despite all the flak that song's getting. I'm a sucker for wailing Ed. The approach he uses in CC though fits the song very well, just needs better execution. Of course, this is just a demo and we don't know if it's actually going to be on the album.

Don't know why FD (even the live version which could be different from what they did in studio) has to be compared with this. Totally different song, totally different space. Only thing common is piano. Black had piano too. If I compare CC to Black, there's only one winner. The comparison doesn't sound logical though.

For me, FD could be to LB what AtB was to No Code. Or Parting Ways was to Binaural. Pretty, but not essential.

He scared himself, into a trance
ducking down rivers, secretly
He floated out, into the ocean
of his worst dream, of his rough sea?
of all the men he could trust
he was not one of them, always hurting himself
this scars and seams?, the wounds are tone
whatever time had healed, it's still too cold
A life washed away, like words in the sand
and when the high tide came, so went his brain
a troubled past, a troubled future
a troubled way leaning on a bar stool
when strobelight stop, he finally saw
navigation towards a brand new course
but to himself the memory clear
cold confession only, that only he could hear

He let himself scream, he let himself cry
let himself reach the other side
there was on cries, there was no crows
just forgiveness, allowed himself
accepted the past, then set it free
oh and it ran off like an animal with ease
he holds the bruise?, he holds their star
in his pure arms, in his clear heart
He's safe now, he's back in her breast
he saw his path, and changed it, chased it, at last
Pretty sure it's "One strobelight star", which fits in with the whole ocean navigation bit.

I was just using the organ on CC to complain about the piano on future days. No other correlation i'm just ranting. I'll stop now cause i'm tainting this beautiful thread :heartbeat:

These are probably thier best tracks since Riot Act, and my two favourite tracks since Binaural.

Just listened to LIR. It sort of meanders at the start but then gets interesting halfway. Finishes extremely strong. Overall, I like CC better though Ed sounds better on LIR. These are just first impressions.

Even if these songs don't make it to the album as people are suggesting, I do think we can expect something along these lines considering what Mike had to say about the Pink Floyd-ish sound, etc. Just like MYM is far removed from LB and FD stylistically despite being on the same album, I don't see why such songs can't make it.

My thoughts after hearing all these 5 'new' tracks:

MYM=CC>LB=LIR>>FD

Things could change slightly with the studio versions. I'm still not hating FD like others here. I just consider it to be a merely pretty song but not one I'll consciously play a lot when I listen to the album. It falls into the same category as Around The Bend, Thin Air, Parting Ways, etc. for me.

These aren't from the new record though. They're from the avocado sessions.

They could still work on lightening bolt

Dude meets his lightning bolt girl
Then stuff gets bad but she decides to ride it out and stick with him
Then he has a moment of enlightenment/fixes himself (CC)
and now he can see thier future days, days of him and her.

 ?

Let me dream.

Speaking of "Lost Dogs" I still can't understand how some of the stuff there never made it on an album. Songs like "Education" and "Alone" especially stand out.

Pj fans. Setting themselves up for huge disappointment and then Blaming the band for not delivering on their unrealistic demands since 2006 :)

I get that they might not be on the album, though we won't know for sure until we have the tracklist. My point is that I expect songs of a similar nature to make it on the album even if these don't. I don't think there's much in common between MYM, LB and FD stylistically. If they can co-exist, so can songs like these.

I'm mostly joking, I know there's 0.0000000000001% that these have anything to do with the album.

But surely its not unrealistic to hope they put thier best work on an album.

Someone mentioned something similar to this earlier, but surely there's some significance to the timing of this leak, considering the alleged age of these tracks.

Well they have taken songs from pervious recording sessions and used them years later.
Not outside the realms of possibility. But strange the thread is still up On the pit.
Official leak maybe?
