One example of this happened on the 2003 North American tour. Several fans with really low Tenclub numbers (allowing them to end up with the best seats) attending multiple shows on the tour would turn their backs to the band anytime a song was played they didn’t like or deemed old hat. Even worse, these fans would cross their arms and make fun of the other fans singing and dancing along.
I have never heard this one before. Is this really true? This was the tour I attended the most shows on and was back when I avidly followed every show's reports and details online, so I'm a bit wary. I suppose I wouldn't be too surprised if it were true though.
If it is true, then that is very douchey behavior. Those assholes need to be sent to a Scott Stapp solo concert as punishment.

I wonder if THIS is the result of "entitlement bullshit"... or just some really fucking BAD wine. You can tell Ed wants to fuck something (or someone) up with that bottle, but Hey, it's not 1994 anymore:

Ahh, yes. The old "punish the class for the behavior of a few" routine.
Cooler, cleverer people would have responded by just playing exactly those songs twice at every show.

I've never heard of this before either.
I do recall Tim Bierman was reported to have moaned to some fans at one of the East Coast 2006 shows that the band were disappointed in the audience's generally muted reaction to the then-new songs from the self-titled record in contrast to how enthusiastic they were about any rarer, older songs that were played.

Has it really made a difference? In 2013 I still saw the same 20-30 people in the front of every GA line and the same people walking out with copies of the setlists, pics, drum sticks, etc. And now with all this direct fan interaction during the show it's just gonna be worse. How many fucked up parents are now dragging their kids into GA for a chance to live vicariously through them when Ed gives the kid a mention on stage?
"Brag about getting Tenclub tickets when everyone else is getting a “503” error." Man, did I enjoy the 2011 sabotage.
I already apologized for that.

He is acting pretty entitled right there.

Man, I was in or close to the front row a few times during this time period and never saw any of this, but I'm curious to know if it's true. Of course, the answer is out there, as they had plenty of cameras rolling on the crowd. Would love to see some screenshots of a fan in the front row with his/her back to Ed.

I've seen people acting like an orchestra conductor before. I attributed that to drunkenness or wierdness, not duchebagness.
Last year in Seattle, I heard a story about Seattle 09 that involved fans reading a newspaper during songs they weren't interested in.
The worst that I've seen was MSG 08 (I think) a fan and his friend did murder / suicide with his finger gun during Last Kiss. I giggled.

I was at both Seattle 09 shows and I didn't see any of that. I might have been too excited and not paying attention though because I saw Sir-Mix-A-Lot at one of the shows.

Perhaps! I'll file a FOIA - Freedom of Information Act - so that we can get a hold of the video tape to investigate.
