Smell is the sense most closely tied to subconscious memoriespepperwhiteMFC wrote:No. I like smells.BurtReynolds wrote:If you could sacrifice your sense of smell in exchange for never getting a cold or flu again, would you do it?
I can see that.Bammer wrote:Smell is the sense most closely tied to subconscious memoriespepperwhiteMFC wrote:No. I like smells.BurtReynolds wrote:If you could sacrifice your sense of smell in exchange for never getting a cold or flu again, would you do it?
Why? Don’t you need your subconscious memories anymore?BurtReynolds wrote:I would in a heartbeat.

Well, Covid has altered my sense of smell but not quite gotten rid of it. Unless something smells really, really super bad, I can’t smell foul odors anymore. Poop, asparagus pee, bad meat, skunk, I get nothing from any of that anymore. Also, the smell of mint now makes me want to violently vomit. Same with diesel exhaust. For the most part, I can still smell pleasant fragrances and I can’t think of anything there that is amiss. As far as smell affecting my sense of taste, it really hasn’t. The only way my taste has been altered is things aren’t as hot as they used to be for me. Like, a fresh jalapeño doesn’t even register as being hot anymore while a habanero isn’t as hot as it used to be. Same with hot sauces. Just not as hot anymore. (The other end still thinks everything is the same, howeverBurtReynolds wrote:If you could sacrifice your sense of smell in exchange for never getting a cold or flu again, would you do it?

All that being said, no, I wouldn’t.

So basically, of all the grandma’s recipes I could have sampled for this dish, I happened to have the friend whose grandma had the worst version compared to other grandma’s recipes.wease wrote:Quite probablypepperwhiteMFC wrote:I’ve had this, but I don’t remember it having cinnamon.
