Hearing that piano for the first time was like suddenly having the ability to hear normally with assisted hearing aids. There are so many layers of instruments buried in the tracks!! Have you heard the keys at the end of Scared of Fear?!?

That piano is completely inaudible in both the Spotify and Atmos version of Apple. But I hear it when I turn Atmos off in Apple Music. It’s so faint, and I don’t think I would have noticed it if it weren’t for these isolated tracks, but now I can hear it every time.

Cannot confirm nor deny, but I can attest for my own highly compromised hearing.

I love all the breakdowns of songs we are getting, I assume as a result of the multiple channels folks can isolate thanks to the Dolby Atmos mix.

Apparently, that's intentional. Someone raised it earlier and it was suggested that that fuzzy sound is an effect.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Might be the best song of the record, and that's no small feat. Beautiful bassline, fun to learn and play.

Did not have Ed playing the Edge-like intro on my bingo card. Couldn't believe it when I saw the live clip.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I loved that what a surprise. I can't figure out why, but it elevated a song that was already about as high as a song can go.

Right there with you, Tj. Had a similar reaction.

Now that I see and hear it makes sense. I do think it is also him playing it on the album. There is a ragged vibe to it that I don't think Stone or Mike would have had.

yep, I think Ed's way of playing guitar is very percussive; isn't he also a drummer?

I believe that was his role with Hovercraft.

He is under-rated almost criminally as a guitar player. His right hand timing is unique in a good. His ability to use movable chord shapes and also open notes at the same time takes a good ear. His choice of tone however has problems . He really I think enjoys the history and romance of vintage gear. I guess the vintage gear isn't really the problem. He just sounded much better with humbucking pick ups on his 2000 era schecter pts and sg. His 62tele custom with single coils isn't my favorite sound for him , but I guess that guitar inspires him so oh well.

Ed is an awesome guitar playera nd you are right that his right hand is epic. It's all Pete Townsend rushing through him.

I dont love his tone within Pearl Jam but his tone Solo/Earthlings is pretty great. He has all the right gear.

His 2000 setup with the Schecter andd Hi Watt was his best within Pearl Jam. or even 95 when he used some distortion.
