I thought it was "Black Pilate I have aid of" when I first bought the single. At least yours makes sense. I was like "What the fuck is Jeff on about now?"

I love this, and think it would have lifted the song to new heights if they had used it

If it had been "black pirate I have aids off" they could have addressed a range of equality issues.

I listened to this one in a packed food hall on my discman(remember those).
Two headphones the booklet with 100s of people walking past oblivious that I was listening to one of the truly great albums from my fav band in the world. It was just the perfect setting.
It's such an amazingly warm album.
Do the evolution is my all time fav pj song and probably always will be.

it's a great album, my second favorite from PJ (almost on par with No Code) but it fails at being a five stars album. their only record that reaches that rare summit is Vitalogy.
why? Jeff's lyrics are probably the main reason.

if lowlight and no way had different lyrics (and possibly pilate) I'd like all those songs a lot more

jeff didn't have the ocean for inspiration so his lyrics about dirt angels and drumlins we're clearly too pedestrian

My opinion admitted falls way far away at times from the rest of this board, and I am sure in particular as it concerns "starring" the albums, but I would honestly say Ten through Yield, and also the self titled album are all 5 stars for me. Binaural and Riot Act are 4 1/2 stars for me, and Backspacer maybe 3 1/2 - 4 stars. And when I rank them, Yield always falls between #2 and #5 on my list, but it depends often on my moods concerning the other albums. This album, to me, not just 5 stars but a consistent great listen every time - and maybe the album I would play if someone magically had never heard any Pearl Jam and wanted to know what they were about summed up in a single album (I would also say Vs. fits this category as well).

I skip Lowlight 9/10 times it comes up or I'm listening to Yield

The lyrics on pretty much every song here range from fine to flat out great, at least measured against the total catalog.

It's one of two or three songs left in the band's catalog that I don't tend to skip, if it comes up on random play.

I think half of yield ranks with some of the best stuff the band ever did. and the other half is, well, the other half.
None of it is bad.
