Fiddlers 1998: An ok setlist with an incredible performance from the band, with gems with I got shit , RMV, Alive...powerful versions.
Just listened to that one last week. It really is a great performance and a nice recording too. I was struck by how all the band members had little things that they added to the songs, just an extra few notes here and there or a complementary pattern to the main chords. Which then made me realize how often they now all just play the same chords together and then I felt sad.
Is there a decent source for this?
I was at that show and for some reason I remember my boot not sounding that good.
its ok....its not great great. I got it in pearljambootlegs.org

Aw, man, can we not be a buzzkill in this thread???
Usually when I come to post in this thread it's because I'm loving whatever I'm listening to. Don't make me think about sad shit like that.
Right now listening to Berlin 1 2013 beautiful Long Road opener.

The only thing sad here is that people actually enjoy listening to 2012 boots.

Hey, I'd rather 2012s over 2009s any day.

You're only hurting yourself when you do.

Listening to this right now. I found it still shrink wrapped at a record store last year for $7 but haven't given it much attention. As soon as I opened it and went to take the discs out, all the hardened, brittle, twelve year-old glue that was keeping the disc sleeves secure immediately broke into a million pieces and fell out the sides. It was kind of a pathetic moment--I thought, "Man, I remember when these things were released."
Up through "Hail Hail" so far and not a dull moment.

"Nothing As it Seems" false start:
"Obviously, Jeff wrote that song and Stone doesn't know how to play it, and he's trying to blame the guitar."
Ed and Stone had such a delightful repartee back then.

I haven't listened to the Euro 2000 boots in a long while. I remember liking all of them and absolutely loving more than a few. Don't recall Zurich specifically, but I remember Katowice 2 being about the greatest thing in the world, for some reason.

Katowice 2 is so good because the performance is perfect but also the setlist is crazy good because the venue was so empty (everyone went to night 1 but not night 2). There were 8,000 there for the first night but only 3,000 for the second. They open with Release, Of The Girl, Sleight of Hand, Thin Air and then go into Insig. The reason I compared Zurich to it is because the crowd is apparently very quiet and Eddie refers to this several times, saying the band is enjoying it. Apparently everyone was stoned or something. So they play a heap of softer songs; Of The Girl, NAIS, Light Years, Untitled, Thin Air, Off He Goes, Sleight Of Hand, Nothingman, Soon Forget all played.

So in 2000 a quiet crowd gets rewarded with an amazing show with stellar versions of their more atmospheric songs. In 2012 a man on crutches isn't dancing and Ed yells at him.

Pretty much.

I'm listening to MSG June 2008.
Not necessarily and epic boot, but I was there. And they opened with Hard To Imagine, which I'd always wanted. So it holds a special place in my heart.

I was so happy to get HTI and Wash as openers in 2008.

Lucky.
Still waiting on Wash.
But HTI was the silver tuna, for me. I'd had a dream a couple years before where Ed got caught lip-syncing (Milli Vanilli style) and promised to make it up to the crowd by honoring specific requests. I screamed for HTI. And they played it for me.
When I got it at MSG, I couldn't help but smile ear to ear.

Those 2008 shows are pretty great. I listened to Bonnaroo and a Mansfield pretty recently and enjoyed every minute.
