I don't necessarily want to see them catering to their dedicated fans either; in fact, I think that's exactly what they've been doing, or at least attempting to do, in recent times.

It'd be nice if they were creatively inspired enough to not give any consideration to what the fanbase wants and expects.

Yep, take a Neil Young or Dylan approach and do what they want. They may be doing that now though.
The post Ten reissue/PJ20 victory lap continues.

I hate the request threads on the Pit too, but is being purposely spiteful or ignorant to fanbase wants any better though?
What's your hang-up on the connection between overall creativity and set list song choice? You've been down this road before, but either I didn't understand your point or you didn't explain it well enough.

Most rarities that they play it seems are only played for a crowd reaction, and because of that they don't really care how it sounds. They think the fanbase will love them simply because they busted out No Way.
I'd rather them not consider any of the fans wants when they choose songs to play, and instead play songs they want to play and songs they care enough to rehearse and play well.

Trieste and Vienna are pretty good shows, about 15 songs not Berlin, ups and downs, probably the best played version of in my tree in years

Might wanna use an example of a sh!tty performance before naming a great one in LA/ 2013. Just a little tip to coincide with your endless misery.

Guys, stockholm is very good too. The guitars on Go sound almost 1995-ish...
