There's some credible analysis on Reddit of both the show footage and the log of flights that day that make a credible case for there being two flights:

One with Nathan flying and landing an empty plane. Just him, the co-pilot, and maybe a third pilot in the jump seat of the cockpit.

And one with that more experienced pilot flying and landing a full plane with Nathan hiding in the cockpit. So it looks on TV and to the actors like Nathan landed the full plane but he didn't

That’s perfect, as the whole show is a commentary on how unreal reality TV is.

Finally started S2 of The Rehearsal and watched the fist two episodes. It's off to a tremendous start. This show is almost too good. I can't handle how good it is. Where do they find these people?

I wonder if the real Sully has seen episode 3. I would love to hear his thoughts on it.
