If we do divisions, we can tailor the schedule to them. We don't necessarily have to have everyone play everyone else twice.

You're doing all the real work here. I trust whatever you choose.

I'm good with just the single division and the balanced schedule. I think if a natural set of divisions presented themselves (like if we had an equal number of AL and NL teams) then maybe I'd lean towards two divisions, but if we land on sixteen I'd say let's just go with one.

Let's set 3PM Wednesday as the deadline for new teams to be added. Sunday night will be the deadline for the rosters, and Monday will be opening day.

So if we have 11 or 12 teams I think it should be 6 team playoff with top 2 seeds getting a bye. If we have 13 or 14 teams we can do a 7 team playoff with the top seed getting a bye. And if it's 15 or 16 teams we can just do an 8 team playoff.

Thoughts?

Well, it looks like at the very least we'll have 14. We've got 15 at the moment (counting seconds), so worst case scenario if we end on 15 is that we just drop one of the seconds.

If we end up with 14 I'm down for the 7 team playoff with a bye for the #1 seed. A straight 8 team playoff for 16 makes sense. I'd be surprised if we made it up to 18 teams, so we'll cross that bridge if we get close to it.

Like I said before, I'd really like to land on an even number just so that every team is playing in both sets of games every day.

It's eleven in the OP, but Skitch, numbers, Ruddo, and #BRL all want to do second teams (the Reds, Astros, Mariners, and Braves/Brewers).

I've added the second teams to the OP. Once #BRL decides on which one he wants, we'll have sixteen.
