The vinyl of Black Gives Way To Blue is beautiful...transparent, big, and sounds awesome.

When The Sun Rose Again is a great song.

That's my favorite song on BGWTB. Seemed to me the most 'experimental' too for lack of a better word, a direction I hoping they would pursue with the Dinosaurs album. Maybe next time...

Jerry said that one was supposed to be a up tempo song, and their producer changed it. Funny, because i dont like his work on both albums.

Still Dinosaurs....is a grower. I like it more now than when it was released.

Devil/Dinasours is a real strong grower and the second half has some gems actually no weak moments on the second half of the album.

The thing is that there are no standout tracks like previous albums..it's very consistent in that most songs vary between 6.5 to 8 out of 10! But like I've said previously the second half is a lot better IMO. Scalpel, Hung On A Hook, Low Cieling and Phantom Limb are really strong set of songs. I'm not a big fan of Hollow or even Pretty Done though.

Social Parasites / the Alice in Chains thread

Post by Bammer »

I will never ever ever ever ever ever get tired of listening to AIC.

Any record, any era. Layne era was obviously the best but Cantrell is a friggin genious in his own right and I'm glad he continued making music after Layne died.

When BGWTB was in the works I didn't like them still using the name Alice In Chains - but the music was still Alice In Chains so it still works.

2nd best rock band of all time behind PJ.

Yeah. There's something about that record, man. I recently dropped $40 on a vinyl re-issue (it included "Sap," too) and felt like it was 100% worth it.
