This, along with the new Roots/Costello album and the new Janelle Monae album, are making for a very good afternoon of work.

I've now done this and like what I hear very much.

Interestingly, this album is a Target exclusive. She sold out very quickly, that one.

I wasnt blown away with the single, but the record should be good. There is too much talent involved...

It's better after a few listens. And that's not me trying to like it. I can definitely hear the "Fear of Music" in it and that's cool.

Is it as good as the best stuff on the first three albums? No way.

Well, it's not the best stuff on this album yet, so I wouldn't worry.

Coming from someone who was completely underwhelmed by The Suburbs, I think the new single is great.

The way the music gets huge for a little while in the chorus when they sing "I THOUGHT I FOUND THE *something*" and then immediately gets toned down when they realize it's "Just a reflektor" is wonderful.

The production of Funeral keeps me from enjoying it as much as I should. Anyone else annoyed by it? Especially the vocals. I still love it very much but I think it could be so much better.

They were always so good at drama. A delivery which actually contributes to meaning.

Yes. You must be my doppelgänger. Grainy, distorted music and harsh, grating vocals keep me from loving it as much as I should. I prefer Win's singing voice to his barking voice, so songs like 'Leika' only really start becoming great in the choruses for me, and stuff like 'Tunnels' (underrated) rise to the top of the pile. All of these production and delivery issues were perfected in Neon Bible, I think.

Yeah, I agree with everything. His voice got a lot more enjoyable for me with Neon Bible which might be my favorite Arcade Fire record. Reflektor does everything right for me. The perfect mix of energy (which lacked a little in The Suburbs) and melody. I'm very excited for this new album.

I was under the impression that Tunnels was considered to be one of their best songs. It's my favorite.

Anyway, I have no problem with Funeral whatsoever. Perhaps that grainy, distored production was a product of Strokes & Jack White (garage rock) influence.
