I really appreciated how this episode was like an anti-caper compared to some of the other "start a different agency" episodes. The Stan and Peggy scene was very strong too.

My favorite line of the episode...

"That was 300 years ago!"

I'm continually amazed at Vincent Kartheiser's ability to portray Pete Campbell as being loathsome and utterly pathetic yet still making me feel a twinge of sympathy for him.

That was my favourite episode of the series so far.

"I feel like a spy."
"You look like one!"

(Directed by Jared 'Lane Pryce' Harris too!)

I yipped out loud when I saw the director credit. My wife was confused because she's terrible with actor's names. When I told her she lit up like a Christmas tree.

And ditto your Pete Campbell comment too, Spenno. It's frustratingly amazing.

I just realized how sad I will be in a few weeks after the finale.

I get happy every time I remember there are more episodes. Last week, I thought we only had two more left and I wanted to cry. But we have THREE! So probably this Sunday at 11:05pm eastern I'll cry.

We can be here for one another.

I'm always surprised to discover that some people really, really dislike Joan's character on the show. I just want the best for Joan, I really do.

I almost lost my shit on another board the other day because they called Joan annoying and ditsy. I can no abide that sort of slander.

So, I'm always on the lookout for clues that the series is going to end with Don jumping out a window...and this episode had two. Don checking the window in his new office to see that it doesn't open...and Roger telling Peggy the story about being pushed off a jump he was too scared to make.

Joan's storyline was great in this episode. I don't think Don will jump out of the window anymore.

Also, did you guys catch the previews for next week's ep?
Spoiler: show
There's scenes with Sally in it, and one quote "what are you doing here?" Maybe Don does work his way back east again. Her boarding school's in CT. Perhaps he'll come clean on his real identity and make an attempt to get back into her life?

I've never really understood why anyone thinks Don will jump out a window.

The one where the guy falls out a window only to land safely on a couch with a cigarette in hand? That isn't an over-the-head crystal clear metaphor for resilience and nine-lives survival themes? Huh.

i agree that people read too much into it/misinterpret it, but they do.

I actually didn't know that. My post probably sounds super flippant. But it never crossed my mind until last year when I read a lot of speculation about the final season. Honestly, never once, in the 8 years I've been watching this show had the thought that Don Draper will jump out a window crossed my mind until someone else said it.

That's really interesting. It seems strange that Weiner would telegraph the ending like that, doesn't it? Plus, I think he's actually commented on the fact that the guy falling from the window lands safely on a couch, hasn't he? Let me see if I can find it...
