I’ve seen them a lot and never disappointed. Terminal 5 in 2008 and 2009, McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn in 2008, Lollapalooza ‘07, MSG opening for Pearl Jam in 2010, Central Park Summerstage in 2010, MSG as headliner in 2012, and Global Citizens in 2012. The venue never bothered me, though even at MSG I was up front. What bothered me was that no matter how expanded their catalogue or ticket price they never once topped 90 minutes and most of the shows were 70. That’s a lot of moment to spend for that amount of time.

I stopped seeing them when they graduated to larger arenas. I saw the black keys a few times in small local clubs and thsoe shows were always fucking awesome but as the venues got bigger they became less......exciting.

Live, adding the accompanying musicians hurt their performances. The raw energy of those shows before were unreal. After that, it was mostly good but not on that level.

The Black Keys Peaches! is the Akron duo’s fourteenth studio album (their sixth since 2019), a visceral and raw 10-song collection described by singer Dan Auerbach as the band’s “most natural record” since their 2002 debut, The Big Come Up. In similar DIY spirit, the album was recorded with all musicians playing in same room with few overdubs, as is the first record mixed entirely by the band themselves since 2006’s Magic Potion. The songs chosen reflect Auerbach and bandmate Patrick Carney’s obsessive record-collecting habit, which in recent years has escalated into an ongoing series of Record Hang DJ-set dance parties where they spin vintage 45s for packed, high-energy dancefloors in the coolest spots across the globe.

The cover art for Peaches! is based around an iconic image from Memphis-born photographer, William Eggleston, and marks the return of Patrick’s brother, Michael Carney, overseeing the art direction.

New single is the SOUND i love/want from the Keys. So, im excited. This is the garage sound they became known for.

Damn. They deserve credit for the pace at which they’ve released albums. I like most of their albums, though it’s been a while since I would call an album of theirs a must-hear. Hopefully this one is that next album.
