Is this spot still open? I thought I was going to be in already, but didn't see my name on the line up for picks..
You're in.

As an album, I actually don't find "Born to Run" very satisfying, even though I like most of the individual songs. The big songs all feel so singularly complete, and the little songs don't really do anything special to tie them together. Generally it's an album I reach for when I have the itch to hear one of its particular songs, as opposed to a record I can put on and get swept up in.
Darkness is the superior album no doubt.

I'm more forgiving to BTR as an album experience than KD, but it is absolutely true that a handful of the songs stand on their own as achievements, with or without the album.
Darkness has more of a story to tell and I usually like to listen to those songs in the context of a complete album.
For me, it's a toss-up between the two - both fantastic for completely different reasons. So impressive he did them back to back.

I'm getting the feeling that Joey's name is going to sit permanently in the thread title.

This is a great 1-2 punch of posts.
I'd hoped to grab "Glory Days" as a sleeper pick in a later round. Good call, Joey.

I always wondered what it must have been like for someone in 1975 who sits down with the Born to Run LP for the first time and hears the opening sequence of Thunder Road. It truly is a magical piece of music and one that I've always "known" (my parents were always playing Springsteen when I was growing up) so I don't have any memory of when I first heard it. But man, I am jealous of people who get to hear this song for their first time.
So I choose Thunder Road, for which I believe is the best song he's written.
