That all begins with Episode VIII, a film he both wrote and directed. And while Colin Trevorrow will direct the next film in the saga, Johnson will also be penning the screenplay for Episode IX, making him the most important creative cog in the entire trilogy. All that being so, Episode VIII will be a key proving ground for him.

I guess i didnt now Johnson was writing the screenplay? This makes me feel a bit better about 9 with Trevorrow

He's writing it *with* Treverow and Derek Connolly who wrote Jurassic world.
He's writing the treatment. Others are writing the script.
I had heard that too, but I guess it's not true: http://www.avclub.com/article/rian-john ... lMarketing

Well shit. There you go. I wonder if "that's old info" because of Carrie's passing and the new reworking that just took place. Or if it's always been the case that he's uninvolved with it.

Kennedy said they started over after Carries passing. I wonder was it a finished script?
It must have been.

Trevorrow is only directing the third one, he is not writing the story.

This trilogy will end up being just like the original trilogy. In more ways than one. But the biggest similarity will be with the directors.
