Spicer references the mosque shooting in Quebec as an example of why restrictions from 7 Muslim nations are needed.

The logic being if they weren't let in to begin with, the shooting wouldn't have happened, I guess?

As far as i know there has been no information released about who the shooters were.

What? This fucking conversation going on about how muslims are the ones causing death and destruction and this is why we ban them....

And considering Spicer already used that tragic event as a reason for the ban here....

I think the use of "hope" in that sentence seems a bit galling - it's a tragedy regardless of who the shooter was.

It is, but you know good and well his point. There is a huge difference in the way that shooting is perceived if it's a white guy or a Muslim. So if you're a person who isn't thrilled to see the president, who has been riling up hate and xenophobia for at least a year and a half, begin to make legal distinctions between Muslims and non-Muslims, yeah, I can see why someone would be relieved that this particular crime wasn't perpetuated by a Muslim because God knows that would only make things worse.

Yeah, it just confirms a bias we are all more comfortable with. If it had been a Muslim attacker, it would have lent credit to Trump's position, and that is heresy.
