And in the video I'm watching he's wearing the same zipper pants EV wears.

Been listenting to Flea´s podcast from 2023 i think? And i enjoyed his conversation with Thundercat a lot. Pretty cool to know about him and his relationship with Kamasi Washington and how they work together.

That made me jump back into his last album and it finally clicked. Love it.

Yeah the last half is very cool I hope he can do more stuff like that.

Yeah I loved You Are Dead! When it came out then I was super disappointed when he opened for Radiohead here in 2017 and kinda never went back

I’ll come back to it

Ok, i decided to listen to SA again, paying more attention to those songs i really dont remember. I listened a few yesterday while i was on the gym and i was happy with the guitar tone in Especially In Michigan and the gorgeous bluesy solo of Hey.

Ill continue later.

Bought Canteen on vinyl and sounds awesome. Very spacey mix, very good volume. Both UL and this sound great and i just love them musically.

My feelings remain kinda the same, it seems this was not a very inspired session for the band to me. It was very prolific yes, but most of the songs go nowhere and they try too hard to be poppy as it seems that formula worked well for By The Way.

There are a few songs i found interesting in this listen, with good guitar work and tones, stuff like the bluesy solo in Hey, the 90s funk in Storm In A Teacup, the kinda progressive sound of Animal Bar are very interesting.

Ill try with By The Way next, thats going to be hard.

we talked about it before

I was mainly very let down with it at the time, specially coming after Californication and watching the band live in that tour. I mainly dont like the pop approach they went for, the guitar tones, the lack of funk and teeth i would say.

With time i appreciate that phase as just a phase, and i can see they tried to jam more in SA, which is fuller of jams and ideas but not that inspired as the last two albums, which i consider are the right mix between Californication and By The Way maybe.

yeah, they truly feel like a continuation of the groove they had in Californication, something they lost in By The Way and feels kinda phoned in in SA.

By The Way is not a bad album at all, and its very cool they went for it, but its not my thing and specially when it came out, it was a huge disappointment.

But i understand why it was so successful.
