This is a close you eyes and pay attention put your headphones on album. I take long social distancing walks with it. It will forever be associated with this time, and makes me reflect on the Trump era. Great stuff. Now, if I want to go for a drive and it's sunny and I want to pull the windows down and blast something, it's Backspacer, Yield, and Vs.

i am excited about Gigaton and social distancing reducing the opportunity for mass casualty events by people with BPD who listen to pearl jam constantly

Anyone else here not have Ten at the top of the list? It's my least favorite PJ album of the 90's and on certain days I might even rank Binaural higher.
I was kind of a late bloomer to PJ not really getting into them until late 95/early 96. It was all Vs. and Vitalogy for me in those days. Didn't hate Ten but even at that stage it felt kind of dated to me. There's still a sort of "timeless immediacy" to the mid 90's to 2000 output that the band still hasn't quite captured. They came as close as they probably ever will again to it with Gigaton though. The Trump references kind of fuck it up.

most people here dont have ten at the top of the list. honestly, half the people here barely listen to pearl jam regularly lol. the trump references are great.

I've loved them since 91, and I'd put Ten at the top in terms of its impact on my life, even if my adult self would rather listen to Riot Act beginning to end

This album feels so different. Not sure if it’s the times we are in but it just doesn’t feel like a Pearl Jam album in a good way.

I do not have Ten at the top of the list either. In fact, for me, the only albums I rank below it are Backspacer and Lightning Bolt. Yield, No Code, Vitalogy are my 1, 2, and 3.

Lots if not most of us don't have this album at the top of our list. There wouldn't be so many of us here if we thought their first effort was their best.
Ten is an album I absolutely wore out. It's one of the first cassettes I could absolutely listen beginning to end with no fast-forwarding. I loved it as a kid / young teenager. There are amazing songs on this album... some of my absolute favorites. I hardly ever just listen to Ten straight through, however. I even change the radio station if I hear EF or Alive pop on. I'm just plain sick and tired of some of these songs, as great as they are. It's the "deep" cuts on this album that make it one of the best of all time, even if I have two or three favorite PJ albums ranked ahead of it.
MY preferred method of listening to PJ prior to the Gigaton release was to just select Pearl Jam as an Artist on Amazon Music or Spotify and then shuffle the entire catalog. Anyone else do this?
For the last few weeks, however, I've been listening to Gigaton almost exclusively - and always straight through.

The way I listen to Pearl Jam changes all the time. I go through periods where all I want to hear are albums. I go through periods where I make my own playlist and listen to that unendingly. And then there are periods, usually after I have recently seen them live, where I will pop in some shows and listen that way. There’s so much material out there that you can go a multitude of directions without it becoming too repetitive.

I wore it out too, and hardly ever listen to it anymore. I too will occasionally change the tune if its EF or Alive. However, those songs and the rest are still outrageously effective for me when I do give them my time and focus, and I'd be lying if I tried to say the band wasn't at their absolute best on that album. They almost immediately changed styles, which adds to the weirdness of Ten, looking back on it. That is also a reason why Quick Escape is so amazing to my ears- it hearkens all the way back to THAT sound, even including the ridiculous pentatonic noodling of Mr. Mike McCready.
