I had a fantastic time with "The Bride!" (though I'd have shaved 10-15 minutes off it) and "Hellcat" (on Shudder; it's rare that horror can mix a gritty grim dark tone with a campy wink in a way that really delights me by the end, but this did it)

now I'm about to watch "Queens of The Dead"; can I get a trilogy of awesomeness?

"Queens of the Dead" - I still haven't finished it; it's great to have so much unabashed queerness in a movie but the story is kinda average and I wish the tone darkened as the "threat" arrived, it's all a bit comic for my taste

"Is God Is" - this is more like it! a wonderful, hilarious bit of Southern Gothic revenge comedy; I'll definitely watch this again

started rewatching the brilliant "I Am Not a Serial Killer" last night, but I was too tired to finish it, will watch the rest tonight

Have you seen her previous movie? i loved it.

I haven't seen We're All Going to the World's Fair, but I did see (and also really liked) I Saw the TV Glow.

Camp Miasma is a very different movie about very different things, though still recognizably from the same artist and interested in the same sort of twisted power of nostalgia

I wasn't sure whether to call it a horror, but it has always been one in my own head: I rewatched "Prisoners", damn I adore that movie

if I wanted a Villeneuve movie with a similar vibe, where would I go next?

mm not sure. Maybe Sicario or Enemy? but those are super different too.

finally saw "Rose of Nevada" and holy hell it's great

I'm glad Mark Jenkin is making the movies he wants to make, and I'm rarely happier than when I'm in front of a vibey arthouse horror

Miasma was good. Very funny and fuckin hot too. Hanna is eye candy really.

It was a bit long and i guess Glow is better maybe. But it was fun.

Finally got around to Obsession. Slightly let down just cause my expectations were so high. Tension was crazy and the actress was fantastic. Great ending. Kept hearing it was funny I didn't get funny. Some lingering questions. Some I thought were acceptable and almost mandatory to leave for the audience to wonder but some stuff just felt convenient not to answer. I find myself still thinking about it where as I forget most modern movies as soon as the credits roll so that's something.

Also, it seems Jane Schoenbrun next movie is an adaptation of Charles Burn´s Black Hole. Cant imagine a better fit for that project.
