It's a huge quality of life boost to no longer deal with salespeople working on quotas. I get why it's necessary but it makes otherwise normal people into complete assholes until they've met their numbers.

Totally get where you’re coming from — it’s frustrating when someone flakes after you’ve already given them a shot. But if her resume is solid and she’s applying to multiple listings, maybe she’s really interested this time. Could be worth reaching out once more with a clear heads-up about the no-show last time.
Also, if you’re open to hiring for a remote job, I’ve heard about Clash of Jobs board that helps find and apply to tons of listings automatically. It might help you find other great candidates without all the hassle.

I got a big compliment the other day. I did something non-moronic at the public service window and the guy I was helping looked at the office behind me and said "you won't be here long"

(he meant he could see me moving up, not that I would die or be fired, I hope)

My one co-worker is a young guy, like 26, and a bit of a wilting flower. Nice guy, more or less competent.

My nemesis decided to yell at him today, which is insane. She had a different theory of when an email should be deleted from the communal inbox than his usual practice, so she started yelling at him about it. I gave her the 'whoa, whoa easy' and she kind of just left the office for like half an hour. No idea where she went.

Mind you, she sits on her phone all day and the only reason she was looking at the inbox was because he told her to look at something funny someone had sent in. He was sharing joy and she started yelling about the most inane, meaningless thing.

We had a bit of a giggle about it when she left, then again at the end of the day with the secretary who apparently overheard it.

But it reminded me of an earlier incident a few months ago where a maintenance guy from the building came into our office all angry. She had apparently got on his case over some bullshit he has no control over and he said "I'm not fucking her, she can't talk to me like that".

My nemesis is hilarious.

Seven weeks until I can start applying to transfer to another gig. I thought she would be leaving and maybe it would be better, but she is just so obviously terrible I can't imagine why some other office would choose her

She’s obviously sleeping with him behind your back and your sudden questioning made her realize you desired her sexually as well. So she didn’t know what to do and simply fled the awkward situation.

I really hate the days where I work hard all day and there is more work to do at the end of the day than there was at the beginning of the day. I'm running a race and end up further from the finish line. Feeling really terrible right now. Might quit and go drive to Oregon or something
