so far i think the studio outtake version of 'Room a Thousand Years Wide' is my favorite ...

the music on the studio outtake for 'Somewhere' is also in the faves column; but Cornell's singing is kind of flat/failing to hit the note.

these two don't seem to have the rinky-dink drumkit issue to them

Listened to the badmotorfinger remaster box last night.

The remaster sounds fine, a bit warmer and a bit more depth. Some people want this album to be remixed, but Im not a fan new mixes..

The outtakes disc is never that special to me, same with the superunknown boxset I went like 'cool, but Ill never listen to this again'. Allthough it was cool to hear the original 'black rain' outtake, they really did not redo much when they released the song in 2010.

The live-show is stellar and sounds great! Much better than 'live on the I-5'

Yeah, the live show is really good...The almost acoustic Mind Riot is a little unexpected gem.

And very cool to hear the 'Fell on black days' lyric in the chorus and realise that's where the bare origins of that song lie, at least lyrically anyway.

I like the other outakes a lot, Chris has a cool effect on his vocal for the first few tracks. The album versions ended up over-produced and sludgy but as rough as the outakes are, at least they allow the songs themselves to shine through.

yeah, the outtakes are pretty cool....the fell on black days thing is nice, he had like 3 songs with the same lyric.

Chris seems to be a guy who always use his old ideas.

Yeah the remaster work is way better than the Telephantasm remasters. Just wish they would have included a digital version of the remixed album they threw on the blu ray disc. Given the limitations of my shitty TV speakers, the remix sounds surprisingly good (and very different from the original mix) but deserves to be heard on a quality sound system.

That Blu-ray is the reason I wanted the box set but I figured I'd wait for the HDtracks release and save myself about $100, give or take. I have a Blu-ray burner and I ripped the TotD disc as well as Beck's Sea Change and a few other discs.

It was actually the TotD box set that convinced me to wait: It's 96/24 on the BRD but 192/24 on HDtracks. I could have saved myself the $$ from buying a physical copy of something I'll never do anything with past ripping it all.

That's a good idea, when you do you think the Badmotorfinger mix will be available on HDtracks? I did a search and they don't have anything for BMF to offer at the moment.

I check it every day, and I'm unsure where to look for information.

I saw they have Down on the Upside though and I'm waiting to buy that with BMF since I have a 15% coupon. Might as well save as much as I can - $25 an album is a little much. Especially with some of their releases being 44.1/24 (barely better than a CD) and they want $18 for it. HA.

I don't think so. The CD case seems to indicate all are previously unreleased, except for New Damage w Brian May

The intro and outro for Blind Dogs is badass.

Yeah, the BD outtake is sick.

I would go so far as to say the Blind Dogs outtake is epic

this 'full' version 'makes so much more sense'

it really seems like an oddball though as far as the 'badmotorfinger sound' goes ... was this really in the same studio sessions?

he's singing much more in the superunknown-lower-octave style and less in the high-note/metal style
