The fact that the latter story got so much more attention is a warning sign for how little the media learned from 2016.

question about a second impeachment:

do you think one timed to go through the election cycle would be a good draw for voters? for example, the news is about the shit he's doing and how they've had to impeach him again making him the only president to get it twice? or would it be a negative draw? I just think back to how much of the nation wants him removed, but then I also think back to how much of the country is representative of his supporters vis-a-vis the electoral college.

I think the Democrat numbers would be unaffected, but that would certain pull Trump's supporters out of the woodwork. It's a terrible strategy, and without a new and obvious crime, I can't see how it would benefit the country.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

yes, but he is kind of doing new and obvious crimes right now.

it's going to be something totally unrelated to politics that trips him up isn't it.

The Senate won't remove him. So impeaching him again is a suicide mission for Dems. All it does is bolster his base and allow him to brag about how he's been acquitted twice. WITCH HUNT WITCH HUNT WITCH HUNT

The election is the remedy. We have to vote him out.

Agreed on this point. Unfortunately, unless there’s a massive crime involved I think the public gets tired of it and throws all politicians into the fire as corrupt and out to get each other thereby potentially lowering voter turnout. Trump’s entire strategy going into this is not to juice up new voters to vote for him but to exhaust on the fence voters from going to the polls because they’ll probably trend against him. He’ll work towards a both sides style of bringing the process down to keep people from engaging the system. His supporters will be there no matter what and will show up in droves. For Ds it’s all about getting out the vote. For him it’s dredging up as much muck as possible so you can no longer really tell the difference.

Note: truth and facts don’t matter so it won’t matter who the candidate is, he will attack with information even if it is false (see Biden, Joe)

I just saw a clip of Lindsey Graham with a jacket on emblazoned with "Team Trump". It was utterly embarrassing and terrifying at the same time. This creepy fealty of the GOP to their King is dumbfounding.

Before the election in 2016 I didn't think Trump would win. Obviously. But i said that if he did it wouldn't be the end of the world because the system has checks and balances and built in protections. If GW couldn't ruin it all forever, then no one could.

Welp...

Had a conversation with a Trump supporter today that said they'd be ok if they lifted term limits so Trump could run again in 2024. When I told them that would make it possible for Obama to run again they said "oh, yeah, maybe they shouldn't do that, then".

Sigh.

Can you imagine the debates between the two? Holy shit.

also that would almost certainly spark an actual civil war, letting the black guy run again.

This is insane and any reasonable human should be terrified.

Not supposed to be on the team of the president for fucks sake.

I couldn't even begin to count the number of people that have told me they want the term limits gone so he can live the rest of his life as President.

Of course then I respond that someone could just kill him now and that wish would be fulfilled.
