Yup. He played excellently for Binaural, Riot Act (and their corresponding tours) as well as quite a bit of S/T (and its tour). I don't know what's happened; I would put it down to age, but he's not ageing with Soundgarden. The most plausible thought, imo, has always been that he's just bored.
Soundgarden mercilessly challenge themselves to produce good music

PJ stopped doing that since Ed became the band's compliance officer. Matt and Stone stopped trying with PJ after enough rounds of Ed's pusstificating; butting his big hairy head in the mix smearing bland dog lyrics on top of any remotely musically independent and interesting semi-boner that would emerge between the other band members
Yeah ed needs to stop being a sentimental easy going mushbag and get weird again.

Next album push i want interviews featuring Bo'B sobbing about eddie insisting on recording the big ballad on the album with a kazoo and a rainstick.

IMO soundgarden need to try harder then, id only put superunknown in the mix with quality of PJ albums, but ive never been overly into soundgarden, i blame them for not making music good enough to keep me interested, others will say ive never given them enough of a chance.

there's a lot of sludge in soundgarden, and not nearly enough soul to make up for it. A lot of good songs, but I really don't enjoy listening to them for longer than like 15 minutes at a time.

It was surprisingly good. Certainly better than Backspacer.

Let's put it this way: both Backspacer and Lightning Bolt have long been deleted from my iPod to free up space, King Animal's still hanging around.

They sounded shockingly good on that tour before King Animal came out, so I wasnt expecting it to be awful, but it was still better than I expected.

I couldn't get through it. Sounded like Nickelback.

Live though, fan-fucking-tastic. Even the new material.

100% agree.
i will say that you need to give them more of a chance.

badmotorfinger is a pretty fantastic album, better than any of their others. superunkown is good, but kind of commercial. down on the upside is interesting at times but a bit of a we're-about-to-collapse-from-exhaustion effort.

skip the first two tracks on King Animal and Halfway there and you've got yourself a pretty darn good album. gotta listen for the details in the timing and the tone. plus there's no EV singing doo-wop-doobie-day choruses. KA's choruses sound more like ozzy meets led zeppelin meets the former lead singer of temple of the dog.

Plus, their lead singer is normal-human sized. in fact most of soundgarden are normal human sized, as opposed to PJ's collection of mini-me's. taller people makes the music sound more manly, and results in a better experience for the listener. it was proven by the prussian music science institute in 1806. cannot be refuted. particularly by internet message boards.

Soundgarden is back and running full, Matt's home.

Pearl Jam is in a constant juxtaposition so let's toss in another drummer, this one may even work out in the long run.
