Am I wrong in observing that you seem to flee, or at least want to flee, when things don't go smoothly? Or maybe to a precise expectation?

I think it's just jobs generally. I resent having to be inside doing something I don't care about all day with people I didn't choose to associate with

Since I quit my job, I lost a few weeks because my dog died, then lost a few more weeks because I fucked up my back, but I'm slowly starting to feel my power levels rise again and I'm starting to remember who the fuck i am.

Had an employee walk out today. She had sent me her resignation letter first thing this morning and gave a 6-day notice. I accepted her resignation but indicated that because she wasn’t providing a 2-week notice, she wouldn’t be receiving her remaining PTO as a payout. She then got mad at me and accused me of retaliation against her and said I wasn’t allowed to withhold her PTO like that. I explained that it wasn’t me that it was company policy. I showed her the policy and mentioned that it was her decision to only give a 6-day notice not mine. So she said she’d just leave right now. So I said ok, that’s fine.

Oof, that’s a tough spot. On one hand, she clearly wants the job (or a job), given how many listings she applied to. On the other hand, ghosting an interview is a red flag — especially without an explanation or follow-up.
If it were me, I’d lean toward passing. Like you said, second chances haven’t gone well, and your time’s too valuable to keep chasing maybe-candidates. There are plenty of other solid applicants out there — and honestly, opticians earn $3,333 per month, so she might be better off aiming for something more stable in that range if she’s not serious about this field.

I use my PTO for this as well!

And got to start the week by firing another one at a different site. This one would clock in, then leave and come back hours later. Already gave her a final warning a few months back then she started doing it again. Plus, she was late about 75% of her shifts.

I’m sure Argo sides with the two that were fired.

Depends on the size of the company and what they do.
