I think this show is in danger of going down the 24 road. What I mean by that is almost all the characters that helped make the show what it was, were killed off at some point. In the first few seasons of 24, the show had really strong secondary characters (Palmer was more like a co-star with Jack), but by Season 6, they were all pretty much dead. It was then left to Jack (Kiefer) to carry the show pretty much by himself, alongside a new crop of secondary characters that were not as good / interesting.

I, uh, think I understand where you're going with this, Pete. They talked about it on the Nerdette podcast this week--i.e., that there are plenty of gods in this world (The Seven, The Old Gods, The Drowned God, the horse god of the Dothraki, etc.), but the only one who has done something miraculous is R'hllor--he's brought people back from the dead, FFS! So this makes STM's connection to that god seem troublesome.

However, I think this line of thinking underplays the old gods. We haven't learned much about them (in the TV show or the books), but I think when we return to Bran eventually, our thinking about this stuff is going to shift.

Yeah. The Old gods are what I'm talking about when I say other gods also have power. And I make that assumption based on the power of the Children of the Forest being real.

They absolutely could have killed Drogon. It’s important to remember that Drogon is a very young dragon — less than three years old — and thus quite vulnerable. As dragons age, their scales become thicker and stronger, growing more resistant to damage and flame. The beasts themselves grow to immense sizes, their flame-breath growing more powerful with each passing year.
