Saw this on Wiki....

"Black Rain" was mostly recorded during the sessions, but the vocals were never completed. It was eventually finished in 2010 and released on Telephantasm and later, Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path. Three tracks had been discarded during the mixing process, two of which included "A Broom", and "How Should I Know?"[

I don't suppose anyone knows anything about those songs?

New Metal Crown isn't too bad, but it's not that amazing either. It's from 1995 too, so it misses a lot of the drama from the last year of the band. Honestly, they are really interesting guys but their story just isn't that interesting compared to a lot of other rock stars; there's very little band drama (at least, not outside the last few months of their first run), almost no drug addiction, they weren't famous enough to have a celebrity following and they don't have too many horrible touring stories (at least not more than the handful that are hilarious that have been told ad nauseum).

A friend bought me the BMF Super Deluxe for Christmas. I got right before heading out of town last weekend and I'm really looking forward to digging into it. It's my least favorite era of Soundgarden but that doesn't mean I still won't love it.

So, has everything up to DOTU been remastered as of now?

Maybe. Honestly, DOTU doesn't need a remaster. It sounds perfect to me. I was hoping we'd get that instead of BMF, but that's just because I love DOTU about 1000x more than I love BMF.

We haven't had Ultramega or Louder Than Love yet, have we? I think LTL got re-issued on cd with the other albums in a box a few years ago (at least in Europe) but as far as I know it wasn't remastered. Could be wrong. Kim spoke about UOK a couple of years ago that he was going to have it remixed as well as remastered, but then the BMF re-issue came out of nowhere...

So I think we're waiting on UOK, LTL & DOTU.

Louder Than Live, too. Kim mentioned it in the b-sides box liner notes as being due official release sometime. The video only ever came out on VHS, so I imagine it might appear as a DVD in the Louder Than Love box, if that were to ever happen. Similar to Motorvision finally appearing on DVD in the BMF box.

I would kill for a DOTU box...with a cool dvd from that era...even if its a really chaotic show.

Man, all this SG talk makes me want a new album now.

20 years on, it still boggles my mind as to why the band felt the need to produce a home video with Jason Everman, yet there was virtually nothing even filmed during the Superunknown era. From the DOTU era, what is there? The 2 tracks from SUL and 5 tracks from the MTV shoot. Slim pickings.

I've been watching a lot of '94 shows on youtube and it really is a crime against humanity that some crappy cam videos are the only audio we have from that era.

Yeah, i agree...the dotu era must be a real gem, even with the chaos...im hoping we get to see that documentary the band was working around 2012 sometime to see if there is more footage from those years.

They filmed the Calgary 1994 show and have released a few clips from it. I don't know why that show never got released in full but my guess is that Chris' voice is shot (like it was at the Seattle show). At least one other 1994 show was filmed (maybe the Brixton show) but the quality doesn't seem very good. I am certain there is video, at least partially complete, of Reading 1995. Beyond that I have no clue. I have no idea if they filmed anything during the DOTU era. There seems to have been a conscious decision to not do any TV or authorize any FM broadcasts, and I'm not sure if it's because they hated bootleggers or because they wanted to be "mysterious" or some bullshit like that. But it WAS a conscious decision. There's no other explanation. And it continues to this day, for the most part. Louder Than Live might have been a label idea.

What about the footage in Hype? Where was that shot?

That's the Calgary 1994 footage referred to above, I believe.
