Heyo, does anyone have a copy of that interview with Josh Evans from Sirius? I'd love to take a listen to it.

He is super articulate about the process and the songs.
Where are people accessing this interview?

After listening to the Evans interview, I think that based on the the band's status (including their experience and access to people), using Evans to produce their first album in 7 years was a big risk.
He hit it out of the park.

Anyone else think it’s bizarre that they let him contribute to this album? He is credited with keys on at least one song. I think it’s weird. Let Boom in the damn studio.

I find Boom's intermittent presence on the albums strange. What else is he doing besides surfing & smoking weed on a beach? OK, fair enough..I probably wouldn't want to leave, either...
Really, though...flying the guy out for three days isn't in the album budget?

For all his faults, BO'B is likely a better keyboard player than Boom, who objectively sucks

i think it would be weird if they didnt let him contribute. i feel like he's credited with keys on more tracks than boom. i dont even think boom leaves hawaii unless they are touring. i assume boom takes over BOB's key parts on the road

Josh Evans is alot like one of us in many ways, except he's living a version of our fantasy life.

There is something about having a true fan helping with an album. Someone who gets them, appreciates their history but is not necessarily a part of it. A fan won't administer some much needed at times authority and control, but they can be a direct line to fans in a very authentic way.
I've also wondered how they'd be with a contemporary as a producer like Jack White, Julian Casablancas, or Josh Homme. But now I'm wondering that what we got with Gigaton is an even better result.
But this is a very refreshing route they took with Josh. It's not lost on me that this is a life and career highlight for this guy. I'm really happy for him and even happier for those of us who are digging this album. I really wish the tour was happening just so he could see our reactions.
I feel like its not a deliberate hire they made. It feels like they were demoing, working, and want to take a certain route and went "Josh is killing this, let's let him help us finish this". Great guy and I'm barely into the beginning of this interview.

I agree with that yeah. The guy is a fan and he was goos enough to let those guys work in their own peace and boost the work. He did a lot of stuff with those songs and the band must have been psyched about it.
I saw the live instagram and the guy is super super cool and very proud of the album, the visualizers, the dolby mix...he is super happy.

This might be the first album I can remember from them where when they tour it I would really like them to play it straight through. They could include the visuals on the tour and it would be really cool, though I am sure the zealots hitting every show will think that will get old fast. This is just a set of songs I would like them to deliver in full.
They could play a few fan favorites to start, knock this whole album out, and come back out for the encores and play whatever crazy stuff comes into their heads. All covers if they want. I would still walk away excited.

It's funny- before this album came out, I was looking forward to their (now-postponed) show in Oakland and I remember thinking how great it will be, even if the new songs suck. Now the new songs are the ones I really can't wait to hear live.

I actually agree, would love to hear the new album straight through and then go into an otherwise regular (shortened) PJ show. Not sure that would work show to show, but it would be nice to catch it once like that somehow.
