What movies are you watching?

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I grew up on Poirot, and do love a good mystery. This was more of a spoof of that. I was almost falling asleep the last hour.

I would rather a director made a really good genre movie, than go for subversion.

And that's valid. Just my obligatory caution to judge a piece of art by what it is rather than what it isn't.

Oh, that's interesting. I wonder if you found the movie a lot funnier/sillier than I did. Perhaps that's the big difference? It's certainly a funny movie but I thought the humor really worked.

Grand Budapest, Moonrise Kingdom, and Isle of Dogs were the ones I disliked, but then I've really loved all the others. It's funny because his films all have a very similar aesthetic and vibe, but there were elements of those three that I found really off-putting.

The three you mentioned are three that I really enjoyed. Budapest and Kingdom especially.

I adore *some* Wes Anderson. There are a couple that I really didn't like.

I’m not a big fan, The Grand Budapest Hotel especially was awful. But I do respect his creativity. The Royal Tenenbaums was interesting.

I haven’t seen Moonrise Kingdom, Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore or Fantastic Mr. Fox.

That's funny because I think Grand Budapest is my favorite of his works.

Art is awesome. I just love how it can affect different people in such different ways. Was there something specific about Knives Out that reminded you of Grand Budapest?

The all star cast acting a bit quirky, the story being a little off, the humour not hitting me, and something about the design/colour/clean production.

What a wonderful movie!! How can i missed this one back in the day? Mike Flanagan is a genius. Framing, composition, score...Both Karen Gillan and Brenton Thwaites are quite good.
