Because about 150 pages back, people were creaming their pants about it.
In some ways I prefer it over the studio version.

But I seem to remember back in the day (maybe it's in SVT?), EV quoting something about not striving for perfection in studio and film clip performances. His feeling was that those little minor fuck ups are what gives a performance character. If you make it 'perfect' then it feels lifeless and stale.
Maybe he's gone back to his older ways, and is not "fixing" things any more.
Then how do we explain the rest of Sirens? Its about as boring, lifeless and stale as it gets....
But the drums are fine, nobody cares about them anyway.

I can't get past that intro I'm afraid, but there's lots to like about the video and the performance later on. I'll take the studio version.

I learned alot last night on Vh1 classic. They had a special about grunge. They spent a fair amount of time talking about Ed's yordel I think that is what they called it. The Melvins called it a rock star overbite. Mark Arm was on this which was cool. I also found out Pearl Jam took a break in the late 90's. This is the coolest part Brendan O Brian compared Pearl Jam to Paul Rodger this is true I am not making this up. Jerry Cantrell was also jamming with Nickleback.

You guys are the faceless fuckers who strip and stab our beloved harmless in the second verse of Given to Fly.
I am just grateful that he still gives his love, even if now he just gives it away.

I bet that song is hard for him to pull off live now what with Avril Lavine perched on his chest like an eagle...
