So 1/3 of his starts they score 3 runs or less.

2/3 of his starts they scored 3 or more.

And if he makes 30 starts, and we lose each and every one of the starts where they score 2 or fewer (we actually win some of those though) he's a 20 win starter.

We're not talking about the expansion Mets, this team is supposed to have a good offense.

You're just over-blowing how bad they are.

The problem with the Sale trade was that it didn't make them a better team than last year, it just replaced Ortiz's bat with an equally dominant arm. I didn't think they would struggle this much, though. There are a lot of good bats in that lineup, but not having that one slugger in the middle seems to have hurt them a lot.

That's not problem with the Sale trade, it's a problem with the lack of an Encarnacion signing.

Poorly worded, but that's what i meant. Boston was clearly one of the top teams in the league last year, and acquiring Sale would normally be a move to push that kind of team over the top, but in their case it ended up being more of a "keeping them afloat" type deal because they replaced Ortiz with Mitch Moreland.

The talk around town at the time was that the Red Sox weren't even interested because they didn't want to have to sign a lengthy contract to get him, which I pretty much agreed with. But then he signs a three year deal with Cleveland that we easily could have topped. It's infuriating.

But yeah, it was probably luxury tax reasons. Which to me is equally infuriating.

Any kind of payroll limitations will always be frustrating, especially for a team that's just a piece or two away. Owners are the worst.

So, now Price is faking an injury to avoid appearing at Fenway. Awesome.
