an earworm isn't necessarily a good song but if it's an earworm you're happy to host and let it burrow into your brain and control your feelings like a zombie parasite, you can call it a good song

More people rated it 1/2 than 4/5. There's a big bellweather for number 3 but that will soften with time and reason.
It would be interesting to run a poll for a song when it first comes out, and then poll it again a year later, because the numbers for Gigaton and Lightning Bolt songs don’t seem to have changed much. Sirens still has like 62% of users ranking it a 4 or a 5, even though it is quite clearly not a song but in fact a harsh punishment.
Yeah but the data would be so flawed. We get an influx of users whenever a new album comes out, then they never return. Lots of jamily carpetbagging going on with those polls.
results are immediately falsified if anyone outside RM contributes

Listening to this with lyrics greatly improves the song for me. I think it is a grower, as Dark Matter has been. Great sign for the album.

At the end of the day, 100 percent of us rate it between 1 -5 stars of those who rated it on the poll.

Those who give it five are really generous.

I've been thinking about the juxtaposition of lyrics in the bridge of Running with the opening of Invincible on Earthling.

The hope of Invincible seems to give way to the hopelessness of Running.

Invincible
Cleared for liftoff
Takeoff
...
When we love, we're invincible

Running
Was cleared for
for liftoff
Aborted my takeoff
...
A date with the gallows
And a reprieve not looking likely

Ooh, yeah, I thought about this the other day while busy with other stuff and then forgot to post about it. Good catch.

That doesn't have to be a bad thing, but not sure they nailed it. Let's see how it feels in the context of the album.

Maybe this is in the last 103 pages, but what are Running's comps?

I think that's best left in more capable hands than mine.

That bit though!

At the listening party the two sing out loud moments for me and the little enclave of people around me were "POTATO!" and "left the fucking water running!"
