Disgraceland is kind of cool, even if it's pretty surface level type information if you're already familiar with who is being profiled.

The Producers Guide ´s episode with Kim Masters is fascinating. I loved the talk about Netflix model, Hollywood and the theatre vs tv dilemma.

I love Disgraceland. I kinda hate how far down conspiracy theory rabbit holes the host is willing to go --- yet totally absolves Courtney Love??? --- but other than that, it's a great pod. I always enjoy the eps.

He's charismatic, that's his thing. His arguments tend to be bullshit that falls apart with the tiniest bit of scrutiny but his whole persona is predicated on being likable

His weird moral high horsinig then immediately insisting he’s not imposing his morals is so transparent.

His views on Facebook twitter appointing themselves editors of the content on their platforms yet abdicating all responsibility for it though, I definitely agree with.

I like rogan. He does seem to be becoming further right leaning as he goes, despite his denials of it.

I didn't say not to like Rogan (though, also, don't). I said--and this is pretty well-established--that he's laundering the far-right for mainstream consumption by inviting these people on and normalizing their beliefs by way of an interview format that refuses, for the most part, to put pressure on their ideas (while putting significant pressure on any left-wing ideas that he encounters). The *goal* of the show is to make people like Shapiro seem like "common sense" guys because Joe Rogan is a reactionary hiding behind the mantle of his common sense objective view (which of course are highly overdetermined by his various subject-positions).

In other words, no, you're not a terrible person, the show is doing exactly what it set out to do and what it is absolutely adept at doing--but maybe start consuming other forms of media/from other media figures.

I’m mostly listening to him for the mind bending stuff like Cox or de grasse tyson etc.

But your point is unassailable. I can definitely see that happening on his show now that you put it that way.

Tried a couple and could t get into it.

If he has one all on his own I’d be all ears

I’ve accidentally hit that hutton that makes podcasts go faster and I’m kind of enjoying it

I'm still hesitant to try podcasts at a sped-up rate, even 1.25x. I just don't think I'd be able to focus on something that's not in the natural rhythm of speech. Sure, people speak at all sorts of different speeds, but with some podcasts I've listened to hundreds of episodes, and I think it'd be jarring to hear those same people sped up.

It’s takibg me out of it and I’m not paying attention

I've listened to podcasts at 1.5x since that feature was introduced on the first ipod touch so I'm used to it. That said, if it's a podcast with any accents I have to slow it down so my brain can translate the sounds. Same with audiobooks. I can do 2.0 with comedy podcasts because it's not so much about trying to learn something but to just laugh at what they're saying.

Though I'm also a fast talker so maybe it's just the way words work with me.

1.5x is fine with some pods. 1.2x or 1.25x is ideal for me for most. there are a handful that have to be normal speed (usually music based).
