I liked the first half better than the second. Too many lawyers and greed.

I mean, that's literally the message of the movie.

I agree. It's not a fun movie to watch. Though, Driver is outstanding as usual.

I love watching him. My favorite part of the movie was more or less any scene he was in.

So Joker was fantastic. What a fucking performance. Well shot as well. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry at half of it. Very impressed. Reminded me a little bit of Mother! in how quickly things unravel at the end.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

the stakes were so low! "One girl was sentenced to six months in prison and the other had to serve probation for two years." wtf?!
I don’t think criminal punishment was the point of any of it? It’s a movie about capitalism that follows complicated, morally ambiguous characters. It’s a movie that leaves you unsure of how to feel about anyone in it or anything they did. It’s very Wolf of Wall Street-esque in its mix of murky, uncomfortable social commentary and characters that are often “fun.” I LIVE for this gray area.

Also beautifully directed, filmed, and acted, with some fascinating sound design choices near the end.

I thought this was awesome, but it helped that I was in the right mood to see it; could otherwise be really difficult to connect with.

This movie does not need a sequel though.
But it made a gigatonillion dollars

Hustlers is brilliant. Joker to me is kinda like There Will Be Blood; not a brilliant film, but a brilliant performance. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot I have not seen and am shocked Guy saw it. Proud of you, Guy. :heartbeat:

J&SBR is not good, really not good. But there was one joke that I had to rewatch because it made me laugh real hard. That said, the filmmaking is super shoddy and the self-insertion and meta references went overboard into embarrassing territory.

Hustlers I haven't watched yet; I came close to watching it in an airplane three days ago but saw that it had been edited for content so decided against it
