Underwater. Not the worst Alien ripoff I've ever seen, but far from the best. The monsters are boring and most of the movie takes place in the dark with shaky cameras.

In fact I'd say the monsters are completely unnecessary. The only scary moments are dealing with floods and cave ins and whatnot.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

If anything I thought it was pretty conventional ensemble storytelling through the first third--it bounces between the characters because it's not strictly about any one of them, and I thought the drift away from a linear narrative was one of the primary things that made it interesting in the first place. FWIW the book is much more conventionally paced (being from the 19th century) and Gerwig adapted the finale based on letters from Alcott. I dunno, I didn't love the movie, I thought the cinematography was especially boring and all of the scenes with Odenkirk had a sort of uncanny feel that really took me out of the film, but I would say it was significantly less haphazard, manic, or skittery than your average offering.

I think I saw enough of it to get a good grasp of it. I thought the constant time and character switches were off putting and got in the way of telling a good character study.

I wasn't really kidding when I said this is the prefect movie for the modern ADHD generation. This is just how movies are now. Maybe it works for people. If nothing else it's interesting to see a period drama get the same treatment as Gravity. But... I don't think it's for me. I'm a dinosaur.
