The lyrics get to me almost every time i listen
Do you have kids? Just curious if this song might affect those with kids a little differently. I also can get choked up a bit with this track.
No but i can definitely pull from feelings i will have if i ever do

I'm currently viewing MYM through the lens of So you wanna be a rock n roll star.
Am I crazy?

Funny, that's exactly how I feel about MYM. (Bringing it all back to the topic of the thread, yeah!!)

I don't suppose you can sound anything other than 'theatrical' on a punk song. If he sounds like the vocalist on STBC every time he gets angry IRL, he's going to be a violent bastard nobody wants to know, least of all his wife and children.

If it really is "we could something else" (it sounds kinda muddled to me), then that's my least favourite lyric on this thing, especially since it sits so awkwardly on the music. But maybe that's the point, with a lyric like that.
that might be my favorite lyric. goes along with the whole "who the hell knows" of it all. it fits.
It's meant to be funny and lazy, imo. Part of the humour. "Well, uh, we could do this, or that, or we could do... somethin' else."
yep, that too.
Yup, I know what it's trying to do, but for me it doesn't quite hit the right mark. I like the lyrics though, even if they don't match up to "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah".
I'm with you. Maybe if he had just drifted off and said "something else" it could have worked for me Idk.
Yeah, I think if he'd just sort of mumbled that line it'd be an excellent way to deliver it and would've made the point better.

The delivery on MYM is bouncy and clipped, which is perfect for bringing some life to what is really not all that melodic a verse. It plays really well against the echo.
The singing on Backspacer is diarrhetically warbly.

He's not acting out uncertainty. He's being flippant.

I just think it would sound more flippant if he offhanded that line. He sounds a leeeeetle bit too earnest about it, is all.
But I'm not going to get hung up about 2 words. I like the song.

I said this yesterday, but I'm not 100% sure the lyric is "something else." I'm hearing something more like "something real."

This has been a problem with PJ's rockers for like a decade.
At least they've got MC, the most underrated member of the band.
Personally i'd like to hear most numbers similar to nais/tremor christ etc, but a bit heavier (much heavier) plain and simple

I'm not either, honestly. It's hard to discern. But I'm really hearing a different word than "else," either way.

i played that just as mind your manners finished on my itunes. The next song that came up was of the girl from benyaroya, so it was basically just the applause, and it made it sound like platy's track was live.
I hope this was as enjoyable for you to read as it was for me to write.

Yeah there is nothing close to a "se" sound...so either it's a different word or he cuts it off assuming we would connect it to rhyme with "ourselves"
I dont have the luxury of listening to it right now but there are a hand full of lyrics that i dont think are quite right.

Yeah, I'm the same. It's the trickiest lyric to pick out for me.
