This is a musician friend of mine whose opinion I trust and value. We agree on a lot when it comes to popular music. He also isn't a die-hard Pearl Jam fan. He was converted during their last US tour. He was lukewarm on Backspacer.
Just thought I'd share what a random civilian thinks.

I think the bouncing tempo and the imperfect, warm, 'room sound' nature of that record are what saves it. If it had been on Backspacer, it would have been nearly as big a turkey as Amongst the Waves.stip wrote:No, at this point I'd give that one a 4.
