At least it's better than the first attempt.

Maybe the italian RS are cools.

It looks like jeffs and stones heads have been swapped, no way would stone voluntarily touch ed. And that looks like something jeff would wear.
If it weren't for the cuffs on Stone's jeans, I would say you were right

So did the entire album leak by now for backspacer?
3 weeks left and I get the feeling we're just gonna have to wait although it would be nice to get the rest of the songs from the ST demo thingee...

I meant to ask you. Can you spot some autotune artefacts on Ed? I think he couldn't possibly reach that high without help. It's way out of his range.
I don't hear it on the high notes, but if it's a soft touch and it's well done autotune is almost impossible to detect. There are engineers out there who do ONLY Autotune work, and they get paid very well (but don't appear on album credits lists). I read an interview with one once (maybe on Gearslutz? Or who knows where). Anyway, I guess the trick to avoiding the frequency distortion or "bubble sound" is to manually correct each off pitch moment...working with extremely tiny sections of audio.

Case in point: I remember hearing some pitchy moments in the leaked unmastered Life Wasted that were perfectly pitched on the record, but I couldn't tell you where they are now.

Usually, with Ed, he's warbly to the point of wavering off pitch on the low stuff, and he leans a teeny bit flat on stuff that is both high and forceful (see: live performance of Comfortably Numb with Roger Waters). If there's correction, I'd expect to see it more in those places...but he's controlling his low parts well in this song and he's buried in with backing vocals for the forceful highs.
Why do those backing vocals sound so fake? I've posted this a couple of times but at times it sounds like a chorus effect. I was making joke about Ed looking unusually tall in that picture btw. I don't think there's anything drastic enough to make that bubble sound which is often deliberate anyway.
There is something weird going on about how the vocals were mixed. When MYM was released i liked the effect of the superimposed slightly different vocal takes but after those other songs leaked i noticed that there seems to be a lot of vocal layering on this album and in some cases it sounds really fake. It doesn't sound like pitch correction as much as amateurish layering and fixing the length of every syllable. I wasn't trying to spot pitch correction or anything it just sounded so fake to me that i couldn't not notice it.

BS didn't leak until about a week before release

Just look at that hand. Is there a man that hand wouldn't touch given the opportunity? Just look at it!

I wanna know what eds hand that we can't see is doing. :naughty:

Really, stone and ed get funnier the more you look at them, so awkward, especially compared to king of cool matt on the end there.

The bubble sound as an emphasis is deliberate, but poorly controlled attempts to hide autotune leave a very faint, similar effect.

The production on the band is good on these songs, but the way Ed's voice is engineered reminds me of S/T...just with less of the harsh upper frequencies. It's been rounded out and adjusted so much to make room for the band that it sounds almost unnatural. Backing vocals are, if anything, likely to be less produced...which can sometimes make the (ironically more human) supporting tracks sound vaguely foreign underneath the extremely contained lead.

I don't think the Italian Rolling Stone would have an English review in it, but what do I know?

Clinch asked them all to kiss the person next to them.

Ed with his usual 'stone is the problem' response.

The review was from Q Magazine. I was just throwing up another picture from that photoshoot.

Sometimes it disgusts me how much pure gold on this board gets ignored. It's like doug rr and The Blast Zone all over again. No wonder so many people here like Sirens.

Me too. Kinda sucks we've already basically heard 8 of the 12 songs, if we count future days and sleeping by myself.

I think the last 4 might just be what makes the album though. I'm really curious about My Father's Son.
