As I’ve grown up, I’ve been able to figure Gene is a massive asshole and don’t like him at all. But I’ve been able to separate the man from the music and while I don’t listen to them all that much anymore, I do still dig them. That said, Billy did a really good job and made it an interesting interview. Yes, Gene was still “on” thru a lot of it but he did come out of that persona a few times and really gave some thoughtful and revealing answers to some questions he’s probably not gotten a lot. He’s still a douche, tho.
I listened to the Gene Simmons episode. I thought Billy was a great interviewer. It's clear that Gene has been trotting out the same generic non-answers to some of these questions for 40 years, and Billy called him out on it every time. I'll watch more of these for sure.
yeah, he is really good. Im bout to listen to the Sharon interview.

The answer to that is - Yes! Yes he is.
Indeed. Save yourself, Jer. Do not go down that rabbit hole. Just listen to the records and leave it at that.

How to write a song like Dianne Warren (by Happy Trees):

Lying awake in bed at night thinking about your lovin', hearing the clock tick and looking at old photo of you as curtains blow in the breeze

Denying a requirement for sleep as impatience for lovin' sets in

Impatience gives way to desperation and the highest mountain would be climbed (entendre)

Footsteps in the hall and heart rate increases, lovin' is near

Lovin' finally occurs and sleep is now within reach

Dreaming about your lovin' post-lovin'

Livin' for lovin' begets Grammy award and so can you.

The vinyl will be ungodly expensive, I hope that II makes it to streaming.

Yeah, I won't feel bad about downloading this. Billy is on one. And he's still pretending that MCIS, Machina and the recent stuff makes up a cohesive trilogy.

What a dork this man is.

the venue here is like 500 people, i might just go for that experience - the plainsong tour show he did here like 10 years ago (jesus...) was really enjoyable and part of it was being in a small crowd that was there not to see hits.

I get that this solo tour is for him to get more money and maybe he can play those solo songs a bit more. Well see.

Machines is a great album. It was never my favorite but it’s really grown on me over time.

That is how I read it, why do you feel that is a positive?

I like when single location retail spaces have disproportionate pull. If it drives foot traffic to his little tea shop, I think it's a nice subversion of the marketplace*

*Obviously people will show up, buy the box sets, then flip them online for a ton of money. That's where it kind of falls apart.
Well...

Too bad for the fans who have been waiting 25 years for a digital release of Machina II.

But they're getting vinyl again as part of a $300 box set that yields easy monetary returns for Billy.
