Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (2017)
There were pick ups planned for 8 in the early part of next year. I'd say they'll definitely use that opportunity to write an ending for her. One rumour before this happened had her being injured in a an exploding shuttle. Let's see.

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/sci-fi/s ... le-a147738Carrie Fisher's General Leia Will Reportedly Have A Larger Role In STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII
Fans are still reeling from the news that Carrie Fisher passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning, but it sounds like the iconic Star Wars actress will at least get a proper big-screen sendoff in the still untitled Episode VIII.
We found out back in July that the film had finished shooting (and yes, that obviously means Fisher had also completed her scenes), and we're now hearing from Deadline that General Leia is to be featured more prominently than she was in J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens.
“For Episode VIII, Leia had a larger role, we’re told, and her daughter, Billie Lourd also is in that film as well as in Force Awakens. How Lucasfilm will deal with the loss of one of the most beloved female characters in any franchise is not known, however, and the company is remaining mum.”
Lucasfilm is probably "remaining mum" because they feel there's plenty of time to address the situation and are not inclined to respond to such disrespectful inquiries.
For now, let's be content in the knowledge that we will get to spend time with Princess (to us, she'll always be royalty) Leia one last time, and that Miss Fisher's final screen performance will no doubt be one to remember.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Luke should wear all black in this movie. His black suit in Jedi is just so fucking cool.

It seems he will be at some stage. Oscar Isaac posted this saying farewell to Carrie.
Making Star Wars dot net are saying it's a costume in the film.
personally I think It's just the black hooded coats they had the cast wear when on location.
Outside guess it could be from Hans funeral

We've all this sadness of losing her to go through again when the marketing for 8 begins. It won't turn people off seeing the film but they'll have to tread carefully not to be seen to take advantage of it but also find either a way to give her a suitable ending to honour the character. Just can't see them doing the CG thing to take her into 9

That's what I heard too. But if they're filming Hans funeral and Luke is there how early in the film can it be? I'm still doubtful we'll see Hans funeral. Unless the funeral is attacked and she's hurt there.

Yeah, I haven't seen much in the way of anything official that's talked about Han's funeral. Just fan speculation/hope. So, I have no idea. We'll see soon enough. I'm just glad we'll get to see Carrie as Leia one more time. Even if it isn't much.dimejinky99 wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:Well, I've heard (and this total rumor and speculation BUT):

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII (2017)
The only "original" or "old" character that I'm worried about is Luke. If he's going out, that's going to have to be perfect. The new characters are great and they'll manage just fine.
I'm also now hearing rumblings that Disney is keen on doing more Saga films. Which leads me to believe that there must be a strong Skywalker connection. So, either Rey is a Skywalker or Kylo Ren goes Light Side.
This is gonna be fun.

I thought none of that was decided until this think tank sit in with the story group and Kennedy and Abrams etc in January?
I hope we get saga films forever. No complaints from me if there is.
